Abstract

The area of grasslands used for nature conservation is increasing substantially in the Netherlands. To maintain these grasslands, harvesting and removal of the grass is an important aspect. Utilization of this type of grass in the ration of lactating dairy cows has been subject of a pilot study. Farmers were interviewed on there experiences with grass originating from areas with nature conservation, mostly in the Northern and Western regions in the Netherlands on peaty soils. Most of the interviewed farmers are satisfied with the application possibilities of nature grass
