    Abstract

The computerprogramme FEMSAT ( Finite Element Mlodel for Saturated Groundwater Flow ) is a groundwater flow model to simulate hydraulic heads and flows in a region. The need to include the unsaturated zone and surface water system in this model has led to the extended version FEMSATP. The P stands for the Southern Peel region, because it was developed for the ICW project "Optimization of Regionel Water Management in Areas with Conflicting Interests". The Southern Peel region was the pilot area. For general applications the model FEMSATP was given the name SIMGRO (Simulation of groundwater flow and surface water levels).
