Abstract
In a matter of months, the world has been transformed. The “COVID tsunami” has swept swiftly and powerfullyacross the world, leading to some unexpectedconsequences, such as considering the wildlife as thebig beneficiary of COVID-19 lockdown.Historically, throughout the 1800s, the pandemic ofcholera has led to massive infrastructural initiatives, inorder to guarantee the sanitary practices in cities. Suchapproaches improved the urban design in the mosticonic metropolises we know today.Today, in the face of “sanitary apocalypse”, wherethe role of human beings is marginalized, not to beoverwhelmed by the propagation rate of the virus,to what extent the urban forests can contribute toboth wildlife and human well-being. It is high timethe “role of nature” placed above the “pleasure ofman” in urban forest design. In this respect, the wildwoodlands approach has been discussed as the mostecologically, financially, and aesthetically appealingsolution in the cities.
