Uitwisseling van drone- en satellietdata met BMS : PPS PL4.0 WP7

Abstract

The exchange of both satellite data and drone data within and with a business management system is technically speaking no so difficult. However, the data often cannot be used without further ado. This has to do with a number of aspects (a.o. atmosphere, clouds, georeferencing, overpass time, viewing angle and sensor specifications). This sprint investigated the extent to which different drone and satellite images are interchangeable and usable and what the causes of any deviations are. Through a pilot study in which various drone and satellite images of the same area and the same period were used, the impact of the various aspects was assessed, both descriptively and quantitatively. In this study we investigated the geometric, spectral and temporal accuracy of these images when applied within the agricultural sector. It turns out that the applicability of the images from different sensors is very dependent on the geometric, spectral and temporal resolution on the one hand and on the, in this case, application within precision agriculture on the other. Quality protocols provide guidelines for the use of different types of drone or satellite images for specific agricultural purposes.
