N2 - In the current consumer climate there exists a growing interest in the origin of our food, because of, for example, sustainability or human and animal welfare reasons. Therefore, initiatives are formed to accommodate transparency in food chains. The Trusted Source project intends to offer consumers and other supply chain actors access to information about food products and their provenance. This report focuses on the biological origin of ingredients of food products. The overall goal is to provide a way to clarify the origin of ingredients as being plant of animal-based, for as many products that can be bought at the supermarket as possible. The report presents a way of disclosing the biological origin of food products.
