Abstract

Utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) farms require vegetation management for wildfire prevention and to prevent weeds from shading the panels. This vegetation management can be accomplished through targeted grazing with sheep. No manual currently exists informing best management practices for contract grazers on solar farms. The aim of this research was to investigate both the effects of solar panels on sheep grazing behavior and the grazing management strategy (i.e., rotational grazing or continuous grazing) best suited for vegetation management on a solar array facility.
