Abstract
A nutrition app could be a helpful tool to support the transition towards a healthier diet. For a sustained change in eating behaviour, such an app should be used for a longer period of time. Therefore, the app must meet the consumers’ needs and desires. In this study we investigated from a user-perspective which requirements nutrition apps should meet in a focus group study. Secondly, we investigated how preferences for these app functionalities differ between consumer groups with varying health-related motives orientation. We defined 47 key app properties and we found that consumers differ in which app functionalities they find most important in a nutrition app. Overall reliability and user-friendliness seem important across all groups.
