Abstract

Commissioned by the Dutch veal calf sector (SBK) and the Ministry of LNV, phase 2 of the study into critical success factors for low antibiotic use in veal calves (KSF Veal Calves) involved an indepth analysis (qualitative) of 10 white-veal calf farms. The aim of the research was to find out which factors could explain that certain veal farms with characteristics that are associated with a high use, inter alia a large farm size, are nevertheless able to structurally achieve a low use, while this cannot be achieved on other farms with similar characteristics.
