Abstract

The concept of styles is multidimensional. With respect to farming, the concept of styles entails the whole of farming practices, including strategies on labour, scale and intensity, recruitment of supplies, and sales of commodities. In Hofstee's research (1946, 1985), styles of farming were related to the production of commodities in different production branches and in different areas, that is dairy production versus arable farm production.
