Abstract

This report provides a description of the guidelines and assessment of the conservation status of the red fox (Vulpes vulpes) in the Netherlands. The conservation status is, following guidelines set by the European Committee (EC), assessed by evaluating four individual criteria, being range, population, habitat and future prospects. For this assessment Favourable Reference Values (FRV’s) have been determined. Assessment of the four criteria leads to an overall assessment. In accordance with these guidelines, the red fox is currently in a favourable conservation status.
