Abstract
The departure from equilibrium of the electric double layers of colloid particles is taken into account in the theory on the electrostatic interaction of such particles. This departure leads to an additional component of the disjoining pressure, which just as the viscous force of a thinning liquid interlayer, is proportional to the rate of mutual approach of particles. Therefore, siwww.lw20.commilarly to hydrodynamic interaction, the departure from equilibrium of the interacting double layers of particles leads to a decrease of their Brownian interdiffusion coefficient. Due to this new effect, the rate of slow coagulation can decrease in the order of magnitude. The theory is developed as applied to the interaction of plate-like particles and Martynov's double layer model
