Abstract
1 In European Union (EU) law, the definition of ‘waste’ has been left intentionally broad in light of the diverse range of substances and objects that could constitute waste (Cheyne 472). Earmarking an object or substance as waste has important implications with respect to the legal regimes that apply to it.
