Abstract

The culling of day-old male chicks of layer breeds has been a subject of debate for some time, leading to a political call to ban this practice. Based on a short literature review and interviews with many parties in the sector, we have tried to map all the ins and outs of culling day-old male chicks of layer breeds, and, with the support of a working group, outline scenarios on how to meet the political demand for policy.
