Abstract

In research program Lumbricus theme conscious soil (‘Bewuste Bodem’) several soil measures were tested for their impact on soil structure, infiltration and rootability: 1: introduction of vertical commuting earthworms on grassland; 2: effect of vertical wormholes, vertidrains and loosing of top soil in grassland on infiltration and surface runoff; 3: nitrate leaching under plots without and with addition of organic material; 4: effect of bokashi on organic matter content in soil and nitrate leaching; 5: sorghum as possible alternative for maize in crop rotation on dairy farms; 6: demonstration of deeper rooting grass species.
