Abstract

This report describes the results of a deskstudy on the current state of knowledge about plant-associate microbiomes and the possible practical implementation in sustainable cropping systems. Special attention is given to the role of plantmicrobiomes in establishing resilience of crops against abiotic and biotic stresses. For a thorough evaluation of the importance of plantmicrobiomes for resilience of crops, it is crucial to have comprehensive understanding of (1) factors that determine composition and functions of microbiomes associated with crop resilience and (2) the translation of the knowledge into practical application by growers. Based on screening of scientific literature and a questionnaire filled by applied researchers the most important knowledge gaps are indicated for both basic scientific- and applied aspects.
