Quantifying Environmental Impacts from Smallholders Dairy Farms in Indonesia

Research output: Contribution to conferenceAbstract

Abstract

The Indonesian dairy industry currently produces almost 853 000 tons of milk per year, with smallholders contributing about 90% to national production levels (DPKH, 2016). As the demand of milk is continuously increasing, the government of Indonesia intends to have an annual production target of 1 million ton of milk in 2019 and initiated a policy to increase dairy production through intensification of the dairy sector (DPKH, 2015). To promote sustainable intensification of dairy production in Indonesia, this research aims to investigate and quantify the environmental impact of Indonesian smallholder systems.
