This chapter on the prevention and control of bacterial pathogens and diseases in plants comprises the following topics: the principles of bacterial pathogen control; prevention of introduction and dispersal after interception by quarantine measures and legislation; eradication of the disease and causal agents; integrated prevention and control in farms and nurseries; the roles of education, hygiene and base plant germplasm (stock materials); breeding for resistance; biological control; chemical control; and sanitation and disinfection.
