Abstract
There has been a trend the last 10 to 20 years to study biological systems of increasing size and complexity with physical techniques. A first prerequisite for such studies is naturally a well-characterized biological preparation and a second is a good understanding of the technique in order to interpret the results correctly. A combination of biological and physical expertise is not always available, however in the field of photosynthesis, which is characteristically interdisciplinary by nature, there is an exceptionally high number of such research groups.
