Abstract

Energy-saving measures are being tested in the project “De Perfecte Chrysant” in order to achieve climate-neutral chrysanthemum cultivation. The basis for this is the use of LED lighting, active dehumidification with heat recovery and intensive use of screens. The temperature and humidity control in crops 20 to 23 was aimed at improving the light utilization efficiency while maintaining good product quality. At crops 22 and 23, the effect of EOD-FR (30 minutes 20 μmol/(m².s)) on plant growth is tested. The net consumption for heating and dehumidification amounts to 48 kWh/m2 electricity for the heat pump and 5.2 m3/m2 natural gas equivalents for the remaining heat demand. The main varieties were Pina Colada and the leaf-sensitive variety Chic. For several other varieties in small fields, the final quality was scored.
