Organizational Culture : siren or sea cow?

Abstract

In the August 1998 issue of this journal, Dianne Lewis wrote a critical article about organizational culture. She argues that the concept may not be useless, but it is ill-defined and its link with an organization's performance is tenuous. I read the paper with pleasure and I agree with the author on most points. However, I have a few comments to make.
