Abstract
It is one thing to know a man and his contemporaries and a very different one to get to know an intellectual only through his texts only. When Prof. Mauro Cappelletti wrote his works, his major works, I was not born, and when I read his first text in a comparative law class, he had already passed away. However, clearly his ideas are still very much alive today; speaking about him at the Conference one realizes that they are, in fact, relevant everywhere.
