Obtaining disease resistance by changing S-genes

Research output: Contribution to journalArticleProfessional

Abstract

Plant pathogens exploit plant genes in the interest of the pathogens. These plant genes are called ‘susceptibility genes’, abbreviated as S-genes. Knocking down or
knocking out S-genes may hamper the ability of the pathogen to infect the plant, leading to durable resistance.
