Abstract

In this chapter, the considerations regarding the interplay of flood types and their spatial dependence from the previous chapter are transferred into the development of a multisite event generator. The spatial dependence of synchronous floods between the catchments is modelled with a Vine-Copula approach, using the dendritic structure of a river network. The general model structure is outlined and the challenge of considering the impact of dams as well as sparse gauging network is discussed. The procedure is illustrated by an example of the Rhine river basin with its several tributaries.
