Monitoring gras/kruidenmengsels Waddenzeedijken: Project Gras op Klei Fase D (2019-2024), eindrapportage en synthese

Research output: Book/ReportReportProfessional

Abstract

Between 2019 and 2024, vegetation and rooting was measured in newly sown trial plots at 4 locations along the Wadden Sea dike, comparing three new seed mixtures with the standard D1 mixture while continuing intensive grazing management with sheep or mowing. All seed mixtures produced closed vegetation. However, the establishment of added herbs, Reed fescue and White clover and spontaneous species is limited and lead only to temporarily results in higher rooting. A key recommendation is to switch to less intensive grazing or hay meadow management when applying new mixtures.
