Abstract

The number of manure additives to reduce ammonia emissions from manure is growing. In addition, multiple studies are being conducted to determine the effects of adding an additive to manure. This has led to a ‘kennisdeskvraag’ from the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality to make an overview of the available manure additives that reduce ammonia emissions from cattle manure (KD-2022-063). In this report, the following manure additives are described in more detail: Multikraft EM, JH acidification NH4+, SyreN, Active NS, Agri Minerals Fertilizer Additive, magnesium chloride and dilution with water. Based on literature, it was determined to what extent these additives reduce ammonia emissions and what are possible side effects. The additives that reduce ammonia emissions from manure are included in a concluding and summarizing table.
