Abstract
Caterpillars of the golden twin-spot moth (Chrysodeixis chalcites) and Duponchelia fovealis pose a serious threat to various agricultural crops. With the withdrawal of synthetic chemical pesticides, rapid and effective biological control strategies have become essential to prevent heavy damage on crops. This study developed an integrated strategy based on the life cycle and behavior of these 2 moths. New natural enemies Podisus maculiventris and Euplectrus carinifer, specific viruses ChchNPV and ChinNPV, and improved Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) formulations were combined with innovative monitoring systems that accurately track moth development. This new approach, in combination with existing products, provides growers with a sustainable and effective set of tools to manage caterpillar pests without relying on chemical interventions.
