Abstract

In 2012 aerial surveys using distance sampling methods to estimate the abundance of harbour porpoises Phocoena phocoena on the Dutch Continental Shelf were conducted in March and November. These surveys were conducted in four areas: Dogger Bank, Offshore, Frisian Front, Delta. Due to adverse weather conditions it was not possible to find a suitable time window to conduct aerial surveys of the entire Dutch Continental Shelf in summer
