Abstract

Butterflies in the Liort Valley (Aveyron, Midi-Pyrénées), and their relation to nature quality (Lepidoptera, Papilionoidea and Hesperioidea). From the 26th of March until the 30th of June 2001, an inventory was made of the butterfly species in the Liort valley. Despite the absence of observations during July and August, 62 species were found. In this article the species are presented. The relation of the butterflies with their environment is discussed, with an emphasis on species from woodlands with clearings and from flowery grass-lands. Species composition should be monitored to detect possible changes in the environment
