Abstract

This chapter synthesizes the concept of land within Chayanovian theory. It also refers to the relevance of this concept in today’s world, by showing that the way land is used is central, probably now more than ever, to the fate, prospects and aspirations of billions of people—just as it is central to the many social struggles that take place, sometimes openly, sometimes covertly, in many places around the world.
