Abstract

Climate change is not just a matter of the future, it is already happening. Vulnerabilities occur in a highly spatially differentiated manner, depending on climate trends, the soil-water system, and on differences per agricultural type. Since climate change brings both opportunities and threats to agriculture, it is important to deal with it properly. This starts with understanding the basis; the soil and water system. A long-term perspective helps to look far ahead and from there to reason back to the best measures to take now. By zooming out, you view the area in a broader perspective, which helps to determine the right scale level for planning and measures. Finally, technological solutions can be used to strengthen natural processes and make optimal use of them.
