Abstract
The adsorption kinetics of a cationic polyelectrolyte onto a model negatively charged cellulose surface has been investigated. Two regimes have been distinguished. At low surface coverage, the adsorption is transport-limited while at higher surface coverage the incoming polymer experiences a blocking barrier of electrostatic nature. This barrier has been quantified and the respective roles of the polymer and surface charge have been assessed.
