Abstract

A literature study was conducted on the relationship between nutrients and susceptibility of the crop to diseases and pests, effects on constitutive and induced plant resilience and the effectiveness on biological control. The focus of this study was on, but not limited to, horticultural crops. The following research questions served as guidelines: a) What is known about the effects of nutrients on crop health aspects, both diseases and pests? b) what is known about the effects of nutrients on constitutive and induced plant resilience? (c) what is known about the effects and interactions of nutrients on biological control agents? In addition, by means of surveys, the experiences and thoughts of growers, consultants and companies active in biological crop protection on this subject have been inventoried. Finally, in a knowledge interaction between researchers, advisors and growers it has been discussed how the results obtained can best be translated into practical applications in greenhouse production.
