Abstract
This introduction to the book provides an overview of how regions, cities, and territories play a crucial role in promoting and accelerating the circular economy. By drawing on case studies and theoretical analysis, the book illustrates how these territorial entities can catalyze a resilient and environmentally friendly economic model. It explores local socio-economic dynamics and highlights the capacity of territories to influence and shape the transition towards more circular practices. By integrating ecological and economic perspectives, the book addresses the challenges and opportunities of the circular economy and puts into perspective the importance of territorial innovation, strategic governance, and cooperation in overcoming the barriers to a truly regenerative economy. In doing so, it aims to provide an in-depth understanding and practical guide for policymakers, planners, and citizens engaged in reshaping economic systems towards a circular model.
