Central processing of fresh manure or urine and feces fractions of manure from dairy cows, pigs and veal calves leads to lower manure disposal costs. Supply of fresh manure or urine and feces fractions require new housing systems, like manure belts and scrapers under the slatted floor or flushing of the manure with fresh manure or low-ammonia liquid. Besides potential lower manure disposal costs, these systems result in lower ammonia and/or greenhouse gas emissions. Transition of the current manure processing market into a central manure processing market with fresh manure or separate manure fractions is in line with the current climate goals. The lower manure processing costs can be used to partly finance this transition. In this research, housing systems that delivers fresh manure or separate manure fractions and that are (almost) ready for practice are described. Moreover, it was calculated what the scope of investment will be due to lower manure disposal costs. From the calculations it is shown that due to the lower manure disposal costs and potential marketing of methane emission reductions on the voluntary carbon market, a scope of investment is created. With this, part of the investment costs for realizing the housing systems can be financed.
