How effective are policies stimulating organic farming?

Research output: Contribution to conferenceConference paperAcademic

Abstract

This paper investigates the impact of three policy measures on farmers¿ choices between conventional and organic farming for the period 1990-1999 in the Netherlands. Using panel data for 11 farms that switched in this period a dynamic logit model or panel data is estimated using maximum entropy methods. The GME-Logit model has a number of advantages over existing methods such as joint estimation of farm-specific effects together with a lagged dependent variable and other explanatory variables and the applicability in the case of a limited number of observations.
