Abstract
The Groen Klimaatplein (Green Climate Square) is an initiative by Tuinbranche Nederland and refers to a physical space within garden centers where visitors can receive information about climate adaptation and nature-friendly measures for their own gardens. This proof-of-concept study focuses on exploring the effectiveness of the Groen Klimaatplein in garden centre as a tool to encourage citizens to implement climate and nature measures in their own outdoor spaces. In addition, the study aims to provide insight into the added value of the Groen Klimaatplein for the garden centre itself, its employees, and the collaboration with relevant governmental bodies and other partners. In this context, six different Groen Klimaatpleinen were examined. Data collection was carried out through observations of the squares, visitor surveys, and interviews with involved partners.
