Abstract

The toxicity data on carbonyl fluoride are insufficient to derive a standard. This proposed MAC-value is based on the assumption that the toxic effects of carbonyl fluoride are based on the toxic effects of hydrogen fluoride and the fluoride ion; the proposed MAC-value for carbonyl fluoride is therefore derived from the toxicity data on hydrogen fluoride and inorganic fluorides. A MAC-value for carbonyl fluoride of: 1 mg/m3 (0.5 ppm) (as F) (t.w.a. 15 min) will probably prevent acute local irritating effects as well as osteofluorosis.
