    Abstract

Fertilisers received a lot of attention when growers first started using substrates. Since then the nutritional requirements of the plant have been largely driven by the need to reduce runoff emissions. In addition, more efficient use of fertilisers is playing a role. Until now growers went along with standerd fertiliser strategies. Now they are starting to adjust the nutrients given to suit the plant's needs.
