Abstract

Model collaboration, defined as the use of multiple models to answer one research question, is essential to cover the full breadth of complex societal problems. Models are often used at Wageningen University & Research (WUR), and increasingly being relied on. This requires safeguarding and stimulating good modelling practices. In this context, this white paper outlines what is needed for a strong support for model collaboration within Wageningen University & Research. Examples of good practices are shown along the entire modelling cycle: problem definition, model setup, programming and code verification, model evaluation, and model usage and interpretation of results. In addition, this white paper provides a first impetus to what is needed for properly organizing model collaboration beyond individual projects.
