Abstract
In the world, at least one third of our food is lost or wasted. Reducing food loss and waste will improve food security and nutrition and reduce the need for land and resources used to produce our food. Reducing food loss and waste and upcycling unavoidable side streams into high-value nutrients are considered key solutions to reducing and mitigating climate change and preserving biodiversity. This chapter takes the Netherlands as a case of inspiration, demonstrating the impact of coordinated action.
