Abstract

The relationship between food loss and waste and the environment is a domain that is still understudied and often overlooked. However, placing food loss
and waste in a changing environment will open opportunities to deliver valuable new insights and better tailored and targeted interventions. Most of all, it will contribute to a more effective outreach to stakeholders and society In this chapter we will delve into the way(s) food losses and waste link to a changing
environment and we thereby address three key messages:
• do not wait for the future to happen
• the uptake of a spatial approach: close to home or a distant reality
• work on positive stories that connect and inspire to action
