Abstract

In this book chapter, we give an overview of flavoprotein monooxygenases (FPMOs) as a guideline for applied biocatalysis. First, we introduce the FPMO field and briefly explain the various reaction mechanisms. Next, the FPMOs are discussed according to their flavin-binding domain classification from groups A to H to provide overall insights into their oxygenation chemistries. Finally, we present general considerations when using FPMOs for biocatalytic applications.
