Abstract

The present invention relates in a first aspect to an engineered host cell for the production of cis, cis-muconic acid from catechol. In another aspect, the present invention relates to specific pseudomonas strains wherein at least parts of the cat operon are silenced, in particular, wherein the catB gene is silenced. In a further aspect, the present invention relates to a method for production of cis, cis-muconic acid using the engineered host cells or the pseudomonas strains according to the present invention.
