Abstract

The project ‘NL Next level mestverwaarden’ is looking for opportunities to make fertilizer products from animal manure with added value. For pig manure, a study has already been carried out into various barn systems and manure processing systems. A comparable study was carried out for rosé veal calf and white veal calf manure. An emission model and a mass balance and cost estimate for manure processing have been drawn up for this purpose. Scenarios have been calculated, mainly looking at different housing systems (faster manure disposal, emission-reducing measures and separation of urine and faeces) and the effects on ammonia and greenhouse gas emissions and the economic feasibility of studied manure processing scenarios.
