Abstract

According to the United Nations 2023 Agenda for Sustainable Development, financial inclusion has a crucial role to play in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The aim of this article is to ascertain whether socio-cultural specificities affect the relationship between financial inclusion and economic growth in sub-Saharan African countries. The results of this study show that financial inclusion is a key factor for economic performance in sub-Saharan Africa, but that its effects depend on cultural, religious, political, and institutional specificities, as well as on the structural aspect of economies.
