Abstract

In the evaluation procedure of active compounds of crop protection products from natural origin, often plants are sprayed up to runoff. It is often found that good working compounds in the laboratory are performing poorly in practice. The results can be improved by formulating the products and adjusting spray technique. In a series of experiments the effect of additives, basic compounds and two agrochemicals were evaluated on leaf samples of potatoes and lily. Tank mixes were applied by a laboratory spray track using a standard flat fan nozzle. Rain shower was produced also by the spray track using coarse nozzle types and low forward speed. Not all additives could improve the rain fastness of the basic compounds. However effects differed for the additives depending on the compound mixed with it. Also large differences were found in rain fastness for the different leaf types. Tank mixes
did not perform identical for the different leaf types.
