Abstract
This report delivers an inventory of growing media, aimed at possibilities to adapt their resilience, and a context and measures for growers to increase the resilience of alternative growing media (not soil). It gives direction to the actions by parties of the Implementation Program for the Future Vision for Crop Protection (UP) to structurally address potentially promising growing media as well as promising measures in practice and research. It specifically concerns growing media and measures with potential for the Dutch cultivation situation. The reason is an action of the Implementation Program for the Future Vision for Crop Protection (UP GB) and is part of MMIP A2. Growing media contribute to a resilient, active and diverse microbiome, provided they are tuned to contributions from the plant, organic fertilizers and organic additives. Temperature, water content, acidity and oxygen supply must be optimized for that purpose. Some growing media components are beneficial in low quantities but harmful in high quantities.
