Driftmetingen Wanner NTR 20 2-rijen dwarsstroomspuit met reflectieschermen, DRD90 doppen en luchtregelingssysteem 2021-2023

Research output: Book/ReportReportProfessional

Results of spray drift experiments are presented of the Wanner NTR 20 2-row crossflow fan orchard sprayer equipped with reflection screens and air management system in comparison with a reference spray technique for fruit crop spraying in The Netherlands. The Wanner sprayer was equipped with variable air settings (dependent on wind speed and direction), the air speed was limited to the 25% setting (700 rpm fan speed), top covers (above the tree rows) and drift reducing nozzles (Lechler ID 90-01 C at 5 bar spray pressure, 90 % drift reduction). The Wanner orchard sprayer uses the reflection screens to spray the crop from 2 sides, so two rows of orchard are treated simultaneously. During the spray drift experiments, performed in 2021, 2022 and 2023, the downwind outer 24 m of an apple orchard was sprayed at the full leaf stage (BBCH 75-91) using the fluorescent tracer Acid Yellow 250. Spray drift deposition was collected downwind on a mowed grass area up to 25 m distance from the last tree row. For the Wanner orchard sprayer spray drift reduction at 4.5-5.5 m distance from the last tree row was 99.1% in comparison with the reference spray application.
