Doden van eendagshaantjes van legrassen, update stand van zaken

Update of the earlier published report “Scenario’s for the issue “killing of day -old male chicks of layer breeds” (van Niekerk and Workamp, 2022). This report addresses information about killing day-old chicks in Europe, the latest knowledge about the development of the embryo, the keeping of males of layer breeds, in ovo sex determination and dual purpose breeds. Also some developments around on-farm hatching are discussed, as these come into play in case of in ovo sexing at the hatchery.
