Abstract

Pratylenchus penetrans and P. pratensis were shown not to be parasites of the potato tuber although potato roots can harbour considerable populations. Normally stored tubers from infested fields would not be a source of infestation. Nursery stock of various trees can be a carrier of the eelworms, particularly P. penetrans, but if planted in nematode-free soil the stock produces healthy roots and little, if any, damage is caused.
